God of War III
Released March 16, 2010

It is time gouge out some eyes and diesebowel some mythic beasts when Kratos returns in the final instalment in the God of War (GOW) series. So now Kratos has returned and he is more brutal than ever before and buckets of blood are spilling once again. In fact, the brutal and gory graphics are occasionally on the verge of bad taste so it is almost disturbing… almost, but since it is done so well over-the-top that you cannot help but laugh. Plus, it is available in HD! GOW is (Playstation only) single player hack and slash action adventure game for adults. The Mature rating is earned almost immediately when the game begins. The game takes place in ancient Greek mythology and the story follows Kratos and his tale of vengeange against the gods. In the hands of Sony’s Santa Monica studios it turns to GOW 3 which equals Brutality, puzzles, awesome finishers and epic boss battles. Plot is a lot simple and very straightforward which works well with these kinds of games.
When the game begins the visual scale hits the player to the face by its excellency. GOW is a visual parade starting from the beginning lasting until the end. As the gameplay is, the animations are equally amazing and I’m not only talking about animating the fantasy creatures, but the full animation of human being has also been breathtaking; male and female both. Each level is expertly designed and cut-scenes unfold very smoothly and there virtually are no loading times.
While the visuals are top notch, the presentation isn’t without its problems since the GOW3 shares the same problem that the previous two did. The camera sometimes gets bit lost, and there were times that left me somewhat puzzled because of the camera-angle. In overall it was not a big problem since GOW actually uses the camera to reveal Kratos’ path and enhances the gaming experience.
The combat is fast, furious, bloody and in short: excellent! Grappling system works like a charm for latching to enemies and recovering from knocks and closing the gap for combos. And sometimes it’s just fun to use opponents as battering rams! The ability to manipulate enemies brings enjoyment to the battle. And yes, like in the previous God of War games, Kratos has weapons to choose from to wreak havoc. This time he has double-chained Blades of Exchile, Claws of Hades, Nemesis Whip and gauntles of Nemean Cestus which are collected during the game play. Each weapons has their own perks and strengths and provide a somewhat different style of play which is great since it gives the player quite amount of variety to hack and slash foes. In addition there are various other collectibles during the game. These collectables include ‘Gorgon Eyes’, ‘Phoenix Features’ and ‘Minotaur Horns’. Collecting three of the same item either increases a player’s health, magic or special item meter.
This has been a short review, but games such as Gof of War 3 doesn’t need a long one. Every moment in the game (Sony sunk almost 44$ million to the development) counts. The series has never looked so good, the game play is polished to deliver a most enjoyable experience and the trilogy has received a worthy ending. In overall, the game is a sum of many factors and for the fans of action/adventure genre, this game is a must. Newcomers will also find plenty to enjoy from and have hands full with many memorable moments of awe and extras to unlock.

Killzone 2

Killzone 2 is a first-person shooter for the PlayStation 3, developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the third installment in the Killzone series that began on the PlayStation 2 with Killzone and continued on the PlayStation Portable with Killzone: Liberation. The game was first announced at E3 2005, with a tech demo on display, while the first gameplay footage was shown two years later at E3 2007.[4] Killzone 2 was released worldwide late February 2009.
Killzone 2 follows the events of Killzone and Killzone: Liberation, and is set entirely on the planet Helghan, the home-world of the Helghast who invaded an Interplanetary Strategic Alliance (ISA) colony. Two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta, the ISA launched an assault on the enemy's homeworld of Helghan. The ISA goal is to capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Scolar Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt. Players assume the role of Sergeant Tomas "Sev" Sevchenko, a battle-hardened veteran of the special forces unit the "Legion" assigned to Alpha team, who goes on a mission to take out the Helghast threat.
During the invasion of Helghan, Sev's unit is deployed behind enemy lines to assist the main invasion force. Tasked with securing the enemy capital of Pyrhus, Helghan's first true city, the team quickly discovers that the Helghast are a more formidable enemy on their home planet. Not only are they well-adapted to Helghan's hostile conditions, they have also harnessed the power of the freakish lightning storms that always occur on Helghan which they can now use against the ISA. A cold, barren, unforgiving world, Helghan provides a ready defense with thick, acidic air, dust clouds, and violent surgical lightning storms. Sev discovers his squad is not just fighting enemy forces—their fiercest opponent may be the planet itself.[5]

Infamous
Released May 26, 2009

The game takes place in fictional Empire City, laid across three islands: the Neon District where many businesses and entertainment venues are located, the Warren District where goods are shipped into and out of the city (also the biggest of the three), and the Historical District, the smallest of the three islands. The districts are connected by bridges, and each district has its own elevated train system. At the start of the game, six blocks of the Historical District are wiped out by an explosion from a bio-electrical device called the Ray Sphere. A plague develops soon afterwards, forcing the government to quarantine the region. In doing so they block the only bridge to the mainland from the city, causing societal collapse within the isolated city.

LittleBigPlanet
Released October 28, 2008

The game revolves around the player's control of a small character, known as a Sackboy or Sackgirl — or gender-neutral Sackperson — owing to their appearance, in a variety of platforming scenarios. Though the game features a set of pre-built levels for the player to explore, the game's customisable nature is equally important, from altering the player's character and personal space, to building entirely new objects and levels, and then sharing and playing them online with                                                                                                                other players as part of the LittleBigPlanet community.

Red Dead Redemption
Released May 18, 2010

Most of the game's story takes place in the year 1911 in the American Old West and follows John Marston, a former outlaw, while he sets out to hunt down his former gang members. Marston's wife and son are taken hostage by the government in exchange for his services. Having no other choice, he sets out to bring his three former gang members to justice.
Upon its release, Red Dead Redemption was met with universal critical acclaim averaging 95% on both review aggregate websites Metacritic and GameRankings, making it one of the highest rated video games for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on both websites. Reviewers praised the visuals, the music, the open world gameplay, and the story. According to the NPD Group Red Dead Redemption has sold two million copies in the month of June alone.
Red Dead Redemption gives the player a large open world environment allowing the player to explore. Players can interact with the environment and engage in combat with enemies, using various firearms. Different breeds of horses are the main forms of transportation. Swimming is not an option, as the protagonist John Marston cannot swim — he will drown if he ventures too far into deep water.[6]
As well as following the main storyline, players can take part in random events they encounter as they explore the West. These include public hangings, ambushes, pleas for assistance, stranger encounters, drive-by shootings, and dangerous animal attacks. For example, if a group of people ride into town firing guns in the air, the player can kill them, and will receive a bonus of honor and fame. Players can also take part in optional side activities ranging from standoffs, gambling, and hunting animals for pelts, meat and other various items.
Red Dead Redemption makes use of a morality system where players have the ability to gain positive or negative 'honor'. Some of the ways to gain positive honor include taking an outlaw alive instead of killing him, or saving a kidnapped innocent. Negative honor can be gained for committing crimes including killing or robbing civilians. This works along with another system, 'fame,' showing and governing how people react based on Marston's honor status. If Marston has negative honor, lawmen and civilians will usually say obscenities to Marston and feel insecure around him; lawmen will even threaten to kill him next time they see him. If he has positive honor, lawmen and civilians will usually greet him and feel safe around him.[7] As Marston's Fame and honor increase bounty hunters think twice about attempting an arrest and people turn away from his criminal behavior.
